Scarlett Johansson wins, yet another award for her, erm, breasts! This is the third time (that I know of) that the actress has won the “award” and the second time in this year. She won In Touch Weekly’s poll for the best breasts in Hollywood last January, and she has won it again, this time in Access Hollywood’s TV celebration of Hollywood’s best breasts.

lips

This part of her article takes a swipe against magazines who “profit” from headlines, which tackle weight and plastic surgery to get rid of it.

Here’s the last installment of Scarlett Johansson’s article. Read on:

So why do these publications do so well? After appearing on the cover of US Weekly’s “Did They or Didn’t They? A Plastic Surgery Guide for Dimwits” issue and battling for a retraction, I learned that the magazine profited $1.4 million from the issue alone (money I felt should be donated to Operation Smile or an equally well-managed charity helping those in need of reconstructive surgery). The concept of ‘Stars Are Just Like Us!” makes us feel connected to lifestyles that can sometime seem out of this world. Yes, celebrities are just like us. They struggle with demons and overcome obstacles and have annoying habits and battle vices. That said, I would be absolutely mortified to discover that some 15-year-old girl in Kansas City read one of these “articles” and decided she wasn’t going to eat for a couple of weeks so she too could “crash diet” and look like Scarlett Johansson.

I’m not normally the type to dignify toilet paper rags with a response, but in this case I feel it’s my responsibility to comment. In a way, I’m glad some dummy journalist (and I use the term “journalist” loosely) is banking on my “deflating” so that I can address the issue straight from my healthy heart.

I guess that Scarlett has a point and has defended it well. People have this mental image of what heroes should look like, thus pressuring the celebrities who play them into that mold.

MTV’s Elisabeth Rappe, had this to say in response to Scarlett’s article: “While we should all try to follow a heroic fitness regime, it’s important to remember that comic book characters are larger than life, and sketched into perfection. Expecting all mortals to look as good in latex is as impossible as surviving a radioactive spider bite.”

And they’re both right, aren’t they?

extreme-beauty

For her article, Hollywood actress Scarlett Johansson shows that she has done her research regarding weight issues in the United States. Here, the blonde-turned-brunette bombshell shares statistics that just might open the eyes to other celebrities who are getting too thin for comfort.

According to the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA), as many as 10 million females and 1 million males living in the US are fighting a life and death battle with anorexia or bulimia. I’m someone who has always publicly advocated for a healthy body image and the idea that the media would maintain that I have lost an impossible amount of weight by some sort of “crash diet” or miracle workout is ludicrous. I believe it’s reckless and dangerous for these publications to sell the story that these are acceptable ways to looking like a “movie star.” It’s great to get tips on how to lead a healthier lifestyle, but I don’t want some imaginary account of “How She Did It!” I get into and stay in shape by eating a proper diet and maintaining a healthy amount of exercise. The press should be held accountable for the false ideals they sell to their readers regarding body image — that’s the real weight of the issue. The NEDA goes on to say, “the media is one of our most important allies in the effort to raise awareness about the dangers of eating disorders…we strive to work with the media to produce accurate, insightful and informative pieces that will resonate with the public, while maintaining hope and avoiding glamorizing or promoting copycats.” But how are we, the reader, to decipher friend from foe? How are we supposed to view articles highlighting celebrity cellulite and not sulk in the mirror, imagining a big red arrow pointing to various parts of our bodies? The media has packaged for us an unhealthy idea that one must suffer loss, be in the middle of a nervous breakdown, feel pressure from friends or coworkers, battle divorce or have a bitter dispute with an ex in order to get into acceptable bikini shape.

close-up-2

Scarlett Johansson has always prided herself in not being into the “Size 0” craze that has gripped so many actors and actresses in Hollywood. That’s the reason why so many people reacted to her slimmer figure and issues of insecurities cropped up.

In her article written to the Huffington Post, the 24-year-old award-winning actress, addresses the issues for her loss of weight for her role in Iron Man 2, and her answer to all the critics that have pulled her name through the trenches regarding it. Here’s part 2 of her article. Enjoy!

Since dedicating myself to getting into “superhero shape,” several articles regarding my weight have been brought to my attention. Claims have been made that I’ve been on a strict workout routine regulated by co-stars, whipped into shape by trainers I’ve never met, eating sprouted grains I can’t pronounce and ultimately losing 14 pounds off my 5′3″ frame. Losing 14 pounds out of necessity in order to live a healthier life is a huge victory. I’m a petite person to begin with, so the idea of my losing this amount of weight is utter lunacy. If I were to lose 14 pounds, I’d have to part with both arms. And a foot. I’m frustrated with the irresponsibility of tabloid media who sell the public ideas about what we should look like and how we should get there.

Every time I pass a newsstand, the bold yellow font of tabloid and lifestyle magazines scream out at me: “Look Who’s Lost It!” “They Were Fabby and Now They’re Flabby!” “They Were Flabby and Now They’re Flat!” We’re all aware of the sagas these glossies create: “Look Who’s Still A Sea Cow After Giving Birth to Twins!” Or the equally perverse: “Slammin’ Post Baby Beach Bodies Just Four Days After Crowning!”

close-up

And Scarlett Johansson, being her frank, strong self, has gone to the Huffington Post to address the issues that have been cropping up because of her recent weight loss.

Here’s part 1 of her article post that she has written:

While training for an upcoming film, I’ve come to this conclusion: chin ups are near impossible and lunges suck. There is no magic wand to wave over oneself to look good in a latex catsuit. Eating healthy and getting fit is about commitment, determination, consistency and the dedication to self-preservation. While I’ve never been considered a gym rat, I have, in fact, worked up a sweat in the name of cardio before, and although I enjoy a grilled cheese as much as the next person, I combine the not-so-good foods I crave with an all-around balanced diet.

People come in all shapes and sizes and everyone has the capability to meet their maximum potential. Once filming is completed, I’ll no longer need to rehash the 50 ways to lift a dumbbell, but I’ll commit to working out at least 30 minutes a day and eating a balanced diet of fruit, vegetables and lean proteins. Pull ups, crunches, lunges, squats, jumping jacks, planks, walking, jogging and push ups are all exercises that can be performed without fancy trainers or gym memberships. I’ve realized through this process that no matter how busy my life may be, I feel better when I take a little time to focus on staying active. We can all pledge to have healthy bodies no matter how diverse our lifestyles may be.

Sexy Scarlett Johansson

The answer: They are the force behind Scarlett Johansson’s slimmer figure, where she’s rumored to have lost 14 lbs.

Oh! So there’re reasons behind Scarlett’s new figure. The culprits – erm, reasons – are Gwyneth Paltrow and Iron Man 2.

Apparently, the 24-year old actress is getting mean and lean for her Russian spy role in the new sequel for the summer blockbuster. She first showed off her new figure during the launching of her new ad for Moet and Chandon. Her slimmer figure (compared to her oh-so-famous bombshell curves) got mixed remarks from the press, prompting rumors that she’s undergoing a massive diet.

That was slammed by her spokesman, who said, “The press is making something out of nothing. She is simply getting into shape for a very demanding, physical role in ‘Iron Man 2.”

In fact, she and co-star, Gwyneth Paltrow are working out together to prepare for their roles in the movie.

A source said: “The pair have been doing daily workouts with Gwyneth’s personal trainer Tracy Anderson. Scarlett is also staying away from carbohydrates.”

Wow! Sounds like these girls mean business.

But there’s one star that’s very much appreciative of our dear ScarJo’s new figure. And he is none other than Robert Downey Jr.

“I’ve been rehearsing with Scarlett Johansson. She is in insane shape,” Robert revealed. “She is really buff. She is getting lean and mean for Iron Man 2. With her and Gwyneth on screen it’s going to be phenomenal.”

So that’s it, ladies and gents. She’s just gearing up for her physically- demanding role for Iron Man 2. I just hope that all her hard work will prove worthwhile and that the movie will be a great success. Let’s just keep our fingers crossed, shall we?

ScarJo is Feeling the Heat

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

The pressure is on! Or so the rumors say.

24-year old vixen, Scarlett Johansson is rumored to be dieting and aiming for a trimmer figure because she’s afraid of losing out to younger and skinnier actresses.

Can you see the “Oh, come on!” factor here?

ScarJo, who has been famous for her hourglass figure, is rumored to be feeling the heat and pressures of the dog-eat-dog competition in Hollywood, and has resorted to dieting and slimming down to keep up with the slew of new blood flooding into show business.

The Lost In Translation star has always been proud of her figure and she’s not afraid to flaunt it. However, a “source” (again, those wretched sources who claim to be friends, but are actually not) claims that Scarlett has fears that she will lose out on movie roles in favor to younger and skinnier (which is almost synonymous to “more attractive” in Hollywood nowadays) actresses.

A friend told Britain’s Star magazine: “Scarlett has always been happy with her curves, but recently she has been feeling pressure to lose a few pounds.”

“She knows that she is up against tough competition from younger, prettier and increasingly skinner actresses,” the “source” added.

Scarlett?! What happened to your admirable motto of “I don’t need to be skinny to be sexy”?

But hey, I guess that if she feels the need to diet, then we’ll just have to let her be. Anyway, she’s doing it for the good of her career, right? So, ScarJo fans, watch out for the skinnier ScarJo and judge for yourself.

Is ScarJo Dieting?!

Speaking of her new endorsement for the champagne brand, Moet & Chandon, the 24-year-old actress gave the press another reason to buzz, aside from her ads: her figure.

Scarlett Johansson has been known for her killer Hollywood curves. In fact, a lot of females probably hate her because of it, while a lot of males totally love her because of the same thing. That’s why her remarkably skinnier figure drew glances at the Moet & Chandon: A Tribute to Cinema shindig.

Apparently, some people heard her complain about the “rigid diet” that she’s going through. Why she even goes under a diet is beyond my powers of comprehension. I mean, she has a body to die for, why change it? But apparently, she has her reasons, as she stepped into the celebration, looking as elegant as ever in her sexy lacy black minidress teamed with a pair of champagne-colored peep-toe heels.

Hmmm…maybe Scarlett is primping up for a new movie role or something. Or maybe Moet & Chandon models are supposed to be skinny. But whatever the reason behind it, it seems to be going against what Scarlett has been advocating in the past. When confronted by a reporter on the scary-skinny craze that Hollywood seems to have, she has been quoted to say, “That’s the biggest nonsense ever! Count me out. I don’t understand what’s supposed to be sexy there. And besides, I like to eat too much. I have never been on a diet in my whole life.”

“I’ve seen gyms only from the outside. I feel very comfortable with my body,” the 24-year old actress additionally revealed.

According to the Examiner.com, Jo Levy, a New England Fitness Examiner posted, “Twenty four year old Scarlett Johansson is on a diet. She’s counting here calories and it seems being very rigid about it. The actress is 5′3″ tall and acknowledges she’ll never be very tall or very thin. But it seems she is looking slim these days.”
