Scarlett Johansson Wants To Work with British Dames

Monday, July 20th, 2009

Scarlett Johansson and Coutrney Cox Arquette Make Directorial Debuts At The LA Shorts Fest on July 23 2009 in West Hollywood

Like many Hollywood actresses, Scarlett Johansson is also fascinated by the fine elegance of Britain’s dames.

The actress said that she would love to work, in any way, with the likes of Dame Helen Mirren or Dame Judi Dench. She would even volunteer to be a director, or a craft service volunteer, just to be around the same set as them.

“I love Helen Mirren,” Scarlett admitted. “Who wouldn’t want to work with her as an actor or director. I’d probably be her wardrobe mistress if she’d let me.”

Scarlett added: “(Britain has) so many fantastic (actors) - Judi Dench is incredible.”

“I mean to be able to work with an actress like that as a director or even standing behind the craft service table would be exciting.”

The aspiring director in her admitted that she has already learned how working with the best talents (actors and actresses) produces the best results in movies.

“It’s funny because I’ve been making movies for maybe 15 years and for me I feel like it’s a process I grew up with. Certainly I’ve learned that to make the best movie you can make, you hire the best people that you can hire.”

Hmmmm… with all her movie experiences with Woody Allen, do you think he has taught her a thing or two about directing and producing? Oh well, let’s just see how her directorial debut does in the Short Film festival this year and let’s see if Scarlett would be better off as an actor or if she has a bright future off the cam. Best of luck, Scarlett!

A Look Back: ScarJo Hearts Nobel

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

martti-ahtisaari

Sexy Hollywood star Scarlett Johansson has always been vocal about her support to now-President Barack Obama, to the point that she thoughtlessly let out that they exchange emails, which fueled a controversy between the two of them.

But the young actress’s admiration don’t just stop at Presidential candidates. On December 11 of last year, ScarJo praised 2008 Nobel winner and former Finnish President, Martti Ahtisaari for promoting peace in three continents for the past three decades.

“It is important to remind young people that peace is the only real victory,” said the Spirit star.

ScarJo and Michael Caine co-hosted the concert which honored former president Ahtisarri. The event was broadcasted in more than 100 countries and featured popular artists Diana Ross, Feist, and Dierks Bentley.

The 24-year old blonde also stressed that peaceful mediation should be used to resolve conflicts instead of war.

“Not the way the U.S. has handled it the past two terms which is: ‘Don’t discuss,’” she said.

Scarlett said, “I guess we think it is awarded to deserving, smarty pants. What’s wonderful about the concert … is really to make this peace prize sort of more accessible,” when asked to describe the Nobel Peace Prize.

“Scarlett was honored to be asked to asked to co-host the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Norway. She wanted to do something important to show young people around the world that peace is attainable and within our reach,” ScarJo’s close friend revealed to People magazine about her co-hosting job for the Nobel Peace Prize award.

Scarlett Hearts Tim Burton and Daniel Day-Lewis

Scarlett Johansson is one of the busiest actresses in Hollywood last year. She starred in the critically acclaimed movie, Vicky Christina Barcelona, played the lead in The Other Boleyn Girl, and played a supporting part in The Spirit. And if that doesn’t seem enough, she has another movie lined up for a premiere this February, the chick flick, He’s Just Not That Into You, and became Marilyn Monroe for D&G.

So what’s next in store for ScarJo? Well, for the first time in months, she doesn’t have a long list of projects lined up, so she wants to take this chance to relax, unwind, lean back on the couch, and think about her next move.

“It’s kind of the first time in a while that I don’t really know what I’m going to be doing,”
she said to MTV News. “But I directed a segment for [the short-film collection] ‘New York, I Love You.’ That’s going to be coming out. I’m hoping to do more development, production and direction. Stuff like that.”

So now she’s into directing? Hmmm, this should be pretty interesting. She certainly does have more than enough experience being in front of the camera to get an idea on what happens behind them.

But this award-winning actress has already set her mind on who she would be working with if given the choice.

“I would love to work with Daniel Day-Lewis,” she reveals. “I would love to work with Tim Burton. I’m a huge Tim Burton fan.”

I wonder what role Tim or Daniel would have Scarlett play though?

Scarlett: I can’t wait to be 10 years older

Friday, January 30th, 2009

scarlett

Wow, unlike most people who want to stave off the aging process for a few years, Scarlett Johansson can’t wait to be 10 years older. Surprised much?

I think that it’s safe to say that the 24-year old bombshell doesn’t want to look 10 years older, but she wants the experience that comes with those 10 years. She says that she’s “looking forward to being 10 years older” and feel like “she’s been through life”.

But let’s think back for a minute. ScarJo hasn’t exactly been standing at the sidelines all these years. This Bafta-winning actress has coped up with a dramatic rise to fame after the she did the Horse Whisperer back when she was still 14 and endured her parent’s traumatic divorce. Not to mention that she has recently gotten married, made a chick flick, “He’s Just Not That Into You”, and recently turned brunette after she binned her trademark blonde locks.

“I think there is kind of an ingénue thing that women play when they are in their 20s. They are sort of these whimsical, sort of transient characters, and it’s like that in life,” she says while lounging in the classy Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel.

“Women in their 30s, and actors in their 30s, suddenly take on far meatier roles. They are playing mothers and wives and women who have been through a life – before the place that they are at that moment,” she reveals while adding that, “And I look forward to that time when I’ll be able to have more of a life that I have experienced to put into the roles.”

Oh! So it’s a career-related thing…I wonder what life-changing experience she want to have just so she could say that “she’s been through life”?

Scarlett’s Obama Experience

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

Scarlett Johansson, Barack Obama

Can anyone resist the lovely Scarlett Johansson? Well, President Barack Obama apparently can.

Scarlett has learned the hard way that innocence in Hollywood is almost non-existent. It seemed that she gushed to the press about how she and Obama, who was still running for president at that time, were exchanging e-mails. And there’s no doubt about how the press gobbled it all up: a sexy hot celebrity + a popular presidential candidate = potential scandal.

So what happened? After the tasty gossip-inspiring bit came out, Obama’s people quickly thought of a means to extinguish any possible scandal by releasing a statement that an assistant was the one who forwarded a message to Scarlett, and she did not have Obama’s real e-mail address. Poor Scarlett. Boy, did she manage to embarrass herself.

Scarlett revealed that “The title of the article was “Actress Has A Crush On Obama.’ Talk about sexist. If I were George Clooney, they would never have written that. I was obviously in a relationship and people were like, ‘How dare she try to break up his marriage with Michelle?’ I was like, ‘What the hell is going on?’” Well sweetie, I think that it is to be expected after you thoughtlessly let loose that you were corresponding with him.

Oh well, the experience has wizened her, “Then he released the statement –his camp had to; they’re on a 24-hour news cycle and have to quell anything that comes in that is questionable. I was really mortified, but I learned my lesson.”

And yet the Obama-supporter feels no grudge against the new President, “I’m absolutely over the moon. If I’m invited to the inaugural party, I’ll be there in a giant gown with the Obama family silk-screened on it.”

And yes, she did go to President Obama’s inauguration ceremony, but no, she did not wear a gown with “Obama” on it.

Scarlett and style

scarlett-louisvuitton-450.jpg

As you all know Scarlett will be the face again of the Louis Vuitton this coming autumn wherein the actress already shot photos for the new advert campaign.

She admits that like the rest of women, shopping makes her go and confesses that apart from snapping for vintage she passionately loves luxury labels.

There are some labels that I’m just… ‘I want, I want.’ I want a Chanel suit so badly. Gucci makes me drool, too.

I’m a total Prada junkie. I’m confident enough to wear whatever I want without making an excuse for it.

I love Chloe – the designs fit me really well. The clothes are so pretty and beautifully made. I love the new big cashmere sweaters – they’re great for New York as it gets so cold. I love Balenciaga, too, the lines are incredibly flattering, they really emphasise the waist.

I like Chanel, Marc Jacobs and Alexander McQueen. And I love the simplicity and wearability of Calvin Klein.

Among her favourite icons include Kate Moss.

Kate Moss always looks amazing. She always looks great in everything. She could wear a black sack and everyone would rush out to buy one.
Sarah Jessica Parker, Gwen Stefani and Diane Lane always look beautiful.
Marlene Dietrich was so stylish and Marilyn Monroe was beautiful, too.

Scarlett: All boobs?

Friday, June 29th, 2007

Brilliant poster This is the poster for her upcoming movie, “Brilliant.” It is expected to come out in theaters in 2009. Once again, it is somewhat dry in Scarlett-land, so let us suit ourselves with her bold statements, shall we?

On being voted having the best breasts:

“I’m sure my mom will be proud. You work hard making independent films for fourteen years and you get voted best breasts.”

On being voted “Best Bum” in a British poll:

“There are plenty of girls with nicer butts. There are plenty of girls who work harder for nicer butts. What about my brain? What about my heart? What about my kidneys and my gallbladder?”

Scarlett on not being thin

Friday, June 29th, 2007

Yes, this quote might last year but still holds true to Scarlett. The subject is fighting against the pressure of being thin in Hollywood.

I try to stay fit and eat healthily, but I’m not anxious to starve myself and become unnaturally thin. I don’t find that look attractive on women and I don’t want to become part of that trend. It’s unhealthy and it puts too much pressure on women in general who are being fed this image of the ideal, which it is not.
I think America has become obsessed with dieting rather than focusing on eating well, exercising and living a healthy life. I also think that being ultra-thin is not sexy at all. Women shouldn’t be forced to conform to unrealistic and unhealthy body images that the media promote. I don’t need to be skinny to be sexy.

Scarlett hopes to find true love and Mr. Right

Monday, June 25th, 2007

Scarlett is the cover of BlissThe British teen magazine Bliss recently talked to Scarlett concerning L-O-V-E. Just like you and me she still dreams of being swept off her feet, that is, wishing to find true love and Mr. Right.

I find it somewhat ironic when she also confessed in the past that being monogamous is “challenging.”

“As an actress, it can be quite tough having a partner, because you’re always travelling from one city to another, which makes it hard to get to know someone and build a connection with them. But I’m not complaining. I get to meet lots of interesting guys and travel to so many great cities, which I love. One day, I’m going to surprise myself and fall completely head over heels for someone and be swept off my feet!”

Scarlett has previously linked to Jared Leto and Josh Hartnett. She is now rumoured to be dating Ryan Reynolds, Alanis Morissette’s ex-fiance.

What Scarlett likes in a man: Part 2

Friday, June 22nd, 2007

Scarlett looks up to artistic menSo guys, listen up!

Scarlett has this to say for all of you who fancy her. If you are damned pretty but you aren’t the artist type then you lose.

“I like people who have a lot of artistic passion. Whether they’re actors or musicians or sculptors, whatever - I need to feel that kind of creative intensity in a guy, and I find that crucial for any kind of relationship I’m in.”

Scarlett used to be concerned about her looks

Thursday, June 21st, 2007

Scarlett: Hair up!Oh my…
It seems that Scarlett, having voted the sexiest star in several magazines, is used to be insecure about her physical apperance. Of what looks like a continuation of a former interview she gave about men and liking them, she reportedly admitted that she was dissatisfied with what she had when she was a teenager.

“I always had a lot of doubtful feelings about my looks as a teenager. I had this deep voice and big lips and some people would make fun of me and I felt awkward a lot of the time. When I was a teenager I always felt too fat, too short and that my face was too wide. I was really insecure about my appearance.”

Imagine that? And now her lips and Angelina Jolie’s are the envy of the Tinseltown. Their pouty big lips are the blueprint of every woman who wants to change the appearance of their mouth.

It goes to show that not humans, celebrity or not, aren’t satisfied with what they have.

Scarlett Quote: On US President George Bush’s policy on abortion

Tuesday, June 12th, 2007

Scarlett Johansson leans

Because I am boring today and there are no news about Scarlett, another Scarlett quote for you to ponder. The US President is on his last leg of European tour due to G8 meeting that wasn’t successful at all. He was in Eastern Europe trying to make friends with the emerging countries in the continent concerning his plan to install missiles in Poland and Czech Republic.
Scarlett’s thoughts don’t have anything to do with missiles but with the Bush’s policy on abortion, which is his party’s stand. Scarlett, a New Yorker, believes that every woman has a right to get an abortion whenever she needs it.

We’re supposed to be liberated in America but if our president had his way, we wouldn’t be educated about sex at all. Every woman would have six children and we wouldn’t be able to have abortions.”

Scarlett quote: On being responsible

Monday, May 28th, 2007

Scarlett and her fierce eyebrow

“I’m very responsible when I’m working. I’ve just been doing it for a long time, and I’m not the kind of person who is going to show up to work three hours late, or maybe not come at all. That’s just not who I am.

That just has to do with the fact that I understand that everybody else comes to work, and we would all like to get an extra four hours of sleep, but what can you do?”…“But [outside of work] I don’t really have any responsibility right now. It’s not like I have kids.

I’m not raising a younger sibling. I’m not supporting anybody financially. But at the same time, I can take care of myself. My mother may disagree. Of course, moms always do: [imitates her mother] “My baby, you’re just a child….”

Scarlett dominates you

Scarlett sits
As told to Parade’s contributing editor James Kaplan released March 2007. She might have been hinting at Lindsay Lohan, who used to be her friend.
